Caged Flight

This weekend I'd planned on finishing my blind_go entry, but instead I managed to hurl myself face first into the pavement from my bike. And remembering how fast I was going down that steep hillside road, I consider myself lucky I managed to hurl myself away from the oncoming traffic. Because, otherwise...ugh. But as it is, nothing a bit of bed and rest shouldn't solve (though bending my knees while typing is killing me - spectacular bruises are blooming over those kneecaps; I just hope my face continues being bruise-free). All this does mean, however, that I didn't get to finish for this round of Blind Go. *sigh*

Been getting over a vicious bug, so have only recently been back online to respond to comments and do a posting update on revealed holiday exchange fics and art. An accomplished feeling, especially as a headache is still threatening my equilibrium and ability to concentrate for than a hour. I've compiled a list of writing projects for the next few months, something to keep me on track and as a shout-out to those unfortunate few to whom I owe fics. ^^;

I love holiday challenges/exchanges...but, uh, I might have gone a bit overboard this year. ^^;;

Listed in order of received assignment:

hlh_shortcuts for [Highlander: the Series]. Trying to work a cross-over as requested, but bunny keeps pulling me in direction of historical fiction. Recently spent two days researching the Dutch East India Company, or Vereenigde Oostindische Compagnie (VOC) in Dutch. Am impossibly conflicted. Also, rediscovering qualms with James Clavell, and his image of 'oriental' women. Words I dearly want to say to him: Me love you not long time.

yuletide for [secret fandom(s)]. I'm considering writing two of the requests. One I've already written 2,500 words for. For the second, I'm waiting to receive the book (which I made a gift to self) in order to review the canon. Yay! *feels proud*

fifthmus for [Hikaru no Go]. ...I...I - *flails* I really want to write one of the prompts, but I know I would utterly fail at romantic comedy. Also, basically promised I wouldn't write that pairing for this exchange. Considered the other two requests, but one involves a pairing I just can't see. Also, can't write romance well. The other prompt is so...so sad. It's essentially canon, but. I don't want to write him like that. *clings to image of happy Sai*

go_exchange for [Good Omens]. Still waiting for the assignment. Am excited, because it'll be my first contribution to this fandom. And the assignment won't even drain my word bank, since I won't be writing. *grins and flexes art skills*

Tentatively, undermistletoe for [Smallville]. I'm...actually dreading this one, after I realized how many other writing assignments I've committed myself to. But, hey, it's SV. I could do this in my sleep...so long as it's only the first three seasons.

Contemplated signing up for serenity_santa, but finally decided sanity is important.
