All fanfiction on this journal is directly accessible from this post, or through the tags. To read older stories I've written during the days of plain text and Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon, please go to my website or my FFN profile.

Some stories are of a mature nature and are labeled as such - please heed all warnings.

My current working fandom is Hikaru no Go.

This weekend I'd planned on finishing my [livejournal.com profile] blind_go entry, but instead I managed to hurl myself face first into the pavement from my bike. And remembering how fast I was going down that steep hillside road, I consider myself lucky I managed to hurl myself away from the oncoming traffic. Because, otherwise...ugh. But as it is, nothing a bit of bed and rest shouldn't solve (though bending my knees while typing is killing me - spectacular bruises are blooming over those kneecaps; I just hope my face continues being bruise-free). All this does mean, however, that I didn't get to finish for this round of Blind Go. *sigh*

Wow, the first time I've really logged back onto LJ for weeks and this is what I find. I have to admit, this is the last push over the edge for me: I'm finally going to branch out from LJ. I'd name-reserved my username at GJ and IJ, but I'd held out from replicating my content there or requesting an account at Journalfen because I still had hope things would remain tolerable here at LJ. It's still tolerable right now, even with the termination of any new Basic accounts - but like Brad said, it's a joke if anyone thinks the new LJ owners won't be getting rid of Basic Accounts entirely sometime soon. It's just a question of whether that's in 3 months or 3 weeks. And we now know that these changes could be implemented instantly without prior notice. (And I'd hoped to spend some time on finishing the Ogata/Yeongha fic, rather than backing-up journal contents...*sigh*)

Just a really quick update before my computer blows up --

Apparently, I've managed to infect my computer: I only have brief periods of normal net browsing (I'm talking minutes) before the virus/worm redirects me to adsites without my consent. Sometimes it crashes my computer - the blue screen of death has become more of a familiar sight than I've ever wanted. Oftentimes, it just eats up my CPU Usage and freezes out my internet browser. Everything's fine only so long as I keep the internet unplugged.

It's been about a month now and I still haven't been able to get rid of the virus. That (I've actually typed up this post beforehand while offline) and RL have essentially killed my internet browsing.

So I'm not actually dead - just momentarily out of commission, so to speak.

In the future, I'll probably be doing more of these blitzkrieg forays into the net to post fic and the like. My ability to participate on my flist and to reply to comments will be severely curtailed - at least, until I can dig this thrice-damned virus out of my computer.

::sighs and truddles off to work::

2/13 ETA: Thank you, everyone who gave suggestions and offered to help. :) I think I have managed to get rid of my problem - it was ridiculously simple; I really should have found a way to google for a solution before. Turns out all I have to do is find the "Internet Speed Monitor" in my list of programs and uninstall it. I can't believe how long I stressed over it.

Well. At least one good thing came out of it: the hiatus essentially sent me cold turkey off the internet habit. I'd actually been learning Russian in my spare time, among other things. ^^

For the past day, all I've done is browse through deviantART and being awed by all the amazingly beautiful artworks there. I've never gone browsing through the site before, only used it as a convenient repository for my own fan works - but now I definitely understand the dangers of addiction (I've been favoriting pictures left and right, and there's still so many out there...it's absolutely insane - but in an undescribably great way. :D).

Some artists have even posted some very helpful tutorials with Photoshop about cleaning a B&W sketch and coloring using Photoshop. I'm linking to them below as a resource for myself, as well as anyone on my flist who is interested. To be edited with new additions as I find them. *g*

ETA Note: (and thank you, Soopa Bunnie) The faces are Obata-sensei's works, drawn by grid (which, for those who are wondering, is only the art class version of tracing). Each body was drawn without grids, but by looking at examples from other manga panels. Scanned, cleaned, and colored by Photoshop. Clothing texture and Akira's hair were by pattern stamps. Background wisteria stock-photo isolated, copied and transformed into cut-out.

Just a fly-by post - I don't usually bring up non-fandom related news in this journal but I just came across this bee's knees of a site call Big Think, and I had to let other pple know about it. It officially launched only three days ago, and as the NY Times article says, this site

mixes interviews with public intellectuals from a variety of fields, from politics, to law to business, and allows users to engage in debates on issues like global warming and the two-party system...[with] plans to add new features as it goes along, including a Facebook-like application for social networking.

I've been browsing through their onsite cache of web interviews, and there's an absolute wealth of engrossing and diverse topics.

Really, go check it out: Big Think
